November 20, 2020 Dear Navajo School Family, We hope this letter finds you and your family well. Over the last 2 weeks, Navajo students/staff/families have been heavily impacted with COVID positive and quarantine cases, which led to our decision to move to Distance Learning. The majority of COVID cases/quarantine individuals will be released from isolation/quarantine over Thanksgiving break; therefore, we have TENTATIVLEY planned to return to IN PERSON school on Monday, November 30, 2020. Due to the fluid nature of the COVID pandemic, we are asking families to email their school Principal (Shawn Sager: ssager@navajo.k12.ok.us; David Doss: ddoss@navajo.k12.ok.us) to update any Positive COVID cases and/or Quarantine requirements over the Thanksgiving Break week. Keeping this information in mind, we will send an update to our school families on Friday, November 27, 2020 with specific details concerning our plan to return to school the following week. We will continue to stay in communication with the Oklahoma State Health Department officials and monitor Jackson County COVID numbers moving forward. Furthermore, Homecoming festivities originally planned for December 1, 2020, have been postponed to a later date, TBD; however, we still plan to have the December 1, 2020 JH/HS basketball games as scheduled at Navajo, with safety precautions in place: Masks, temperature checks, and social distancing at all home games. Students should make sure and have all assignments from the past 2 weeks turned in to their instructors through Google classroom no later than Wednesday, November 25, 2020 to receive full credit. This is a courtesy extension for all students to have an extra opportunity to complete all Distance Learning assignments for full credit. Thank you for your continued support of Navajo Public Schools! Have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving! Blessings, Navajo Public Schools Administration

November 9, 2020 Dear Navajo school family: We believe one of our greatest responsibilities is to communicate transparently and often with you, our school community. It is our hope that accurate and up-to-date correspondence will help you make well-informed decisions for your family. Nothing is more important to Navajo Public Schools than the safety and health of our students, our employees and their families. When we work together, we can provide the best care for all involved. After consultation with the Oklahoma State Department of Health, reviewing positive COVID-19 cases, as well as the number of students/staff at Navajo Public Schools that have been exposed to COVID-19, Navajo Public Schools will be going to a distance learning platform effective Tuesday, November 10, 2020 through Thanksgiving Break. We will provide you with additional information as it becomes available. Additionally, there will be no extra-curricular activities during this time. Teachers will be communicating with students and parents through their child’s Google classroom for further instructions. During this time, we are asking that students and families take the extra necessary precautions for a return to traditional in-person learning platform. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough and shortness of breath. If you or any member of your family exhibit these symptoms, you are encouraged to contact your medical provider for advice immediately. Symptoms usually appear 2-14 days after exposure. The CDC recommends the following best practices to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available. Avoid close contact with those who are sick. Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your sleeve. Disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects. Practice social distancing, leaving at least six feet between you and other people. When you are unable to practice social distancing, wear a face covering. Thank you for your support of Navajo Public Schools. Sincerely, Vicki Nance Superintendent
