Make plans to come to "Meet The Teacher" event this Monday from 3:00-6:00 P.M. for students in Pre-K through 12th grades. This is a great event to meet your teachers and gain valuable information about the upcoming year. In addition we will have an informational meeting for parents of students in 9th-10th grades from 4:30-5:15 and for parents of students in 11th-12th grades from 5:15-6:00 in the new gym lobby. Also, Jackson County Health Department will be offering back to school shots in the Cafeteria from 3:00-5:00 P.M. All 7th graders must have the TDap shot so please bring shot records or get up to date at this event. First day of school is Thursday August 10th starting at 8:00 A.M. Looking forward to a great year!

This letter serves as a reminder of Navajo School’s Electronic Device Policy in effect for the 2023-2024 school year. No student cell phones, air pods, bluetooth headphones, or smart watches will be allowed to be in use while on campus during the school day for students in Pre K through 9th grade. Cell phones must be turned off and stored during the entirety of the school day. Students in 10th-12th grades are allowed to use cell phones ONLY before school, during lunch, and after school. Any style of bluetooth headphones will not be allowed in any school buildings including the cafeteria. During class students may NOT use their phones for calculators, checking time, music, reading a book, checking their grades, or for any other reason. If there is a medical reason for using a cell phone, that may be allowed per a 504 or health plan, with prior approval. Phones will not be allowed during P.E. or class change in the hallways and are also prohibited in the restrooms. We realize that it is difficult to feel out of touch, but parents can call the office to relay messages to students or reach their students by email in grades 6-12. Below are some of the main reasons Navajo School is taking this stance on cell phones: Cell phones are a distraction and disrupt learning. Social media trends disrupt learning. Cell phones can make cheating easier. There is a risk of students taking and posting illicit pictures. Cell phones can make cyberbullying easier. Cell phones make accessing inappropriate material easier. Thank you for your support as the Navajo School District continuously strives to educate your child in a safe environment that is free from distractions.
