Today was exciting for Navajo Senior Avery Rempel and her family! She signed to play softball with the Southwest Oklahoma State University Bulldogs after she graduates from Navajo High School this spring. We are all so proud of her achievement, and can't wait to see her shine on the field!
Here are a few of Avery's softball stats that Navajo Softball coach Kriston Cusher read today:
"She (Avery) helped lead the team to the fastpitch state tournament for the first time in Navajo history her sophomore year and for the second time her senior year… not to mention twice in slow pitch!
Her sophomore year she was the conference offensive player of the year as well as the Navajo offensive player of the year. With 0 strikeouts all year as our leadoff with 121 plate appearances.
Her junior year she was the conference player of the year as well as the Navajo MVP.
Her senior year she led the team in batting average with a .539, on base percentage .598, slugging .933, hits 48, singles 28, triples 11, runs scored 42, and stolen bases 23 (79 career). She was also the conference player of the year as well as all region first team. And she was most recently named a small west all stater and will get to play in the all state game this summer!"
This week our Navajo Junior High Basketball teams will be hosting the Navajo/ Frederick Junior High Basketball Tournament with Frederick. Tonight, the Navajo boys and girls will be playing here at Navajo. The girls will play at 6:30 and the boys will play at 7:30, both against Elk City!
